- Ask detailed questions about the surgery location, safety protocols, hospital transfer agreements, and monitoring procedures. Overnight monitoring is recommended for large volume liposuction procedures.
Being Your Own Advocate
While surgeons submit required documentation, patients should understand the full process to ensure appropriate information is provided. Karie advises working side-by-side with your surgeon and advocate to develop the strongest case for approval.
Though denials often rubber stamp through internal appeals, she explains that getting the right help can frequently overturn denials during the external appeal phase. This outside review prevents the need to pay out-of-pocket in hopes of reimbursement later.
